Sunnyside Cat Walk
Two neighbours, one walkabout, a viral TikTok, and second place for Best Tour in the whole of Portland.
In August 2025 two neighbours in southeast Portland, C. Meier and Jay Parasco, went for a walk to look at the cats on their street. They filmed it. TikTok did what TikTok does, and a private amble turned into a neighbourhood institution inside a year.
It is a guided walk, about ninety minutes, starting from the Sunnyside Piazza. Being guided rather than self-guided gives it a different feel from Fernwood or the Portland window walk: everybody moves together, so it is as much a rolling conversation with strangers as it is a tour of cats.
It came second for Best Tour in the Best of Portland awards, against tours involving buses and professional guides, which tells you something about what people actually want from an afternoon out.
Dates move every year. Sunnyside Neighborhood Association has this year鈥檚.
