The Lincoln Square Cat Tour was meant to be a neighbourhood afternoon and about three thousand people turned up. So Christine Blevins and Kalin Webber are running a second one, Halloween themed, in Bowmanville.

Part of the reason is bookkeeping rather than ambition: Bowmanville sits inside the wider Lincoln Square community area, and a set of cats missed the first tour purely because of where the boundary fell. This gives them their turn.

Free, more than forty cats registered, costumes encouraged for cats and humans alike, and a block party at the end.

Dates move every year. Chicago Cat Tours has this year’s.

Nobody has caught a cat in Chicago yet.

Not one. The whole city is unclaimed, which means every cat you meet on this walk is a first find with your name on it, permanently, on a card nobody else can have.

Someone is going to be first.

Walking it? Bring a Chonk-dex.

Chonk Finder turns the cats you meet into trading cards. It works on the route, and it works on your own street on a Tuesday, which is the bit the walk cannot do.

  1. Meet a catOn the route, in a window, on a wall. Any cat counts.
  2. Take its photoYou get a card back: a name, a rarity, and two attacks it did not consent to.
  3. Find it againFour different people find the same cat and it becomes a Chonk. Permanently.
